Dermis & Dosis manufactures plant-derived exosome serums in Lahore for brands and clinics to sell under their own name: a face serum for skin and a scalp serum for hair, from 500 pieces per product. This guide covers what plant exosomes are, what an exosome count on a label really means, how the serums are made and packed, and how to describe them without making claims a cosmetic cannot make.

What plant exosomes are

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles: tiny, membrane-wrapped particles that cells release, carrying proteins, lipids and other signalling molecules. In skincare, the word is used for ingredients built around these vesicles.

Plant-derived exosomes, sometimes called plant exosome-like nanovesicles, are isolated from plant material or plant cell cultures and supplied to manufacturers as a cosmetic ingredient. They are the route we use, and for a good reason: the cosmetic rules of major markets, the EU's among them, do not allow ingredients of human origin. Exosomes taken from human cells belong to clinical medicine, not to a serum on a shelf.

Some exosome products on the market use vesicles from bacteria or yeast instead. Our skin and scalp formulas both use plant-derived material.

What the evidence does and does not say

Exosomes are one of the most talked-about ingredients in aesthetics, and the science behind topical use is still young. Much of the published data on cosmetic exosomes comes from ingredient suppliers, and independent studies of plant exosomes applied to the skin or scalp are few.

That does not make the ingredient worthless. It means the honest description of an exosome serum is a well-made cosmetic built around a promising ingredient, not a treatment. We tell every client that, because brands that overclaim are the ones that end up in trouble with regulators and with their customers.

Two formats: skin and scalp

Exosome face serum

A lightweight serum built on plant-derived exosomes. Our catalogue Exosome Renewal Serum pairs them with peptides and niacinamide, and the supporting actives can be agreed with you. Clinics use it in aftercare routines following in-clinic procedures such as microneedling or laser, and premium skincare lines use it as the hero of an anti-ageing range.

Exosome scalp serum

A light, leave-on scalp serum built on the same plant-derived exosomes, for hair care brands, salons and clinics that offer scalp treatments. People search for "exosome hair growth serum", but on a cosmetic label this is a scalp serum: it supports a healthy-looking scalp and helps hair look fuller, and it is sold as exactly that. Our hair care range shows the other formats we make for a scalp line.

You can launch one or both. A skin and scalp pair under one brand is a natural range for a clinic that offers microneedling for the face and the scalp.

What "10 billion exosomes" means, and what to ask

Exosome serums are sold on numbers: 2 billion, 10 billion, 20 billion. The figure sounds precise, but on its own it tells a buyer very little. Before you put a number on your label, or believe one on someone else's, ask four questions.

  1. Per what? Per millilitre, per vial or per bottle. Ten billion per millilitre and ten billion per 30 ml bottle are thirty times apart.
  2. Measured how? Particle counts usually come from nanoparticle tracking analysis or a similar method. Ask which method, and who carried it out.
  3. Measured where? A count for the raw ingredient is not a count for the finished serum, which is that ingredient diluted into a formula.
  4. Shown on paper? A certificate of analysis should state the particle concentration for the batch. Ours does.

Tell us the count you would like to state on your pack and we will confirm in writing what the formula and its certificate of analysis can support. If the paperwork cannot back a number, the number does not go on the label.

Formulation and packaging

Vesicles are delicate. Heat, repeated freezing and thawing, and harsh surfactants can damage them, so exosome serums are made as gentle, water-based formulas, with the exosome ingredient added at a cool stage of production, and each batch is released only after testing.

Packaging matters as much. An airless pump keeps air and fingers out of the serum and suits retail. A dropper bottle is familiar in clinics and fine for a pack that is opened often and finished quickly. Both are available, with labels and cartons designed and printed in-house by Dermis & Dosis Print. Finished serums should be stored as the label directs, away from heat and direct sunlight.

Claims you can and cannot make

In Pakistan, a product's claims decide which regulator it answers to. Plain cosmetics sit under PSQCA; medicated and derma products fall to DRAP's Health and OTC Products Division. Our guide to DRAP enlistment explains where the line falls. For an exosome serum, keep to cosmetic language:

  • Workable for skin: helps skin look smoother, firmer and more rested; helps skin feel hydrated and comfortable; part of an aftercare routine after in-clinic procedures.
  • Workable for scalp and hair: supports a healthy-looking scalp; helps hair look thicker and fuller; leaves the scalp feeling nourished.
  • Not workable on a cosmetic label: regrows hair, stops hair loss, treats alopecia, heals, repairs or regenerates tissue, "stem cell therapy", "medical grade".

Who it suits

  • Aesthetic and dermatology clinics that want an aftercare product patients associate with the clinic, not with a pharmacy.
  • Premium skincare brands looking for a hero serum.
  • Hair care brands and salons building a scalp line.
  • E-commerce sellers who want an ingredient customers already search for.

How private label exosome serums work with us

  1. Choose: skin, scalp or both, and the pack, airless or dropper.
  2. Sample: samples to see and test, with adjustments to texture, fragrance and size before you approve, as for any private label formula.
  3. Artwork: labels and cartons designed and printed in-house, laid out to Pakistan's labelling rules.
  4. Production: from 500 pieces per product, with a certificate of analysis for every batch.
  5. Delivery: to any city in Pakistan, or to your distributor.

Want an exosome serum only your brand has? Custom formulation builds one from your brief. For the standard route, see private label skincare, or send your product list through the quote form.

Questions brands ask

Are your exosomes plant-derived?

Yes. Both our skin and our scalp serums use plant-derived exosomes. We do not use material of human origin.

How many exosomes are in each bottle?

It depends on the formula you choose, and the certificate of analysis for each batch states the particle concentration. Ask us for the figure for the formula you are considering, both per millilitre and per pack.

Can I sell an exosome hair serum as a hair growth product?

Not as a cosmetic. "Hair growth" and "stops hair loss" are therapeutic claims. Sold as a scalp serum that helps hair look fuller, it stays a cosmetic.

What is the minimum order?

500 pieces per product, in any format, the same as the rest of our private label range.

Can I see where it is made?

Yes. Book a tour of our Lahore facility and walk through formulation, filling, quality control and the printing unit.
