About Botulax

Botulax is a botulinum toxin type A for professional aesthetic practice, intended to be administered by a registered medical practitioner. Clinics use it in treatments for the appearance of facial expression lines on the upper face: the horizontal lines across the forehead, the vertical frown lines between the brows known as glabellar lines, and the fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes called crow's feet.

Botulinum toxin type A is a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Where a nerve meets a muscle, it blocks the release of acetylcholine, the chemical messenger that tells the muscle to contract, so the muscle moves less for a time. The action is temporary: the nerve endings gradually recover and normal movement returns. That effect on muscle is why the toxin has a place in medicine and in aesthetic practice alike.
