About Nextoxin

Intended for use by qualified medical professionals, Nextoxin is a botulinum toxin type A for medical aesthetic practice. It is used in treatments for the appearance of facial expression lines, including those across the forehead, in the glabella (the small area between the eyebrows) and at the crow's feet beside the eyes.

The “type A” in its description matters. Botulinum toxins are grouped into several types, labelled by letter, and type A is the one most widely used in aesthetic medicine. It acts at the junction between nerve and muscle, temporarily blocking the signal that makes the muscle contract, and over time the nerve endings recover and movement returns. Because it acts on muscle in this way, it is treated as a medicine at every step, from the storeroom to the treatment chair.

In the treatment room

A Nextoxin appointment starts well before the product is opened. The doctor holds a consultation, takes a medical history and checks it against the contraindications in the leaflet, explains what the treatment involves and that its action is temporary, and records consent. Only then does the practitioner decide whether to go ahead, and how, working from the manufacturer's leaflet and their own training.

Keep a record for every treatment: the patient, the date, the practitioner, the product and the batch. Store Nextoxin as the leaflet directs, and make sure nobody but a registered medical practitioner administers it.
