About the Centrifuge 800D

The Centrifuge 800D is a compact benchtop centrifuge for separating blood and preparing PRP. Centrifugation spins sample tubes at high speed, and the force separates whole blood into layers by density: the heavier red cells collect at the bottom, while the lighter plasma, including the platelet-rich portion, sits above them, where it can be drawn off.

In aesthetic practice, that platelet-rich plasma is used in procedures such as PRP facials, microneedling with PRP and scalp treatments, each of which begins with a sample of the client's own blood. The 800D is a high-speed laboratory-style unit with straightforward operation, and its small footprint means it can sit on a worktop in a treatment room or a clinic laboratory. The quality of the final plasma depends on the whole process, from the draw and the tubes to the programme the clinician follows, so the centrifuge is one part of a protocol rather than the whole of it.

In the treatment room

PRP preparation is work for qualified clinicians: a doctor or trained clinical staff member draws the blood, prepares the sample and uses the plasma. Use sterile, single-use tubes and needles, label every tube, and never let one client's samples sit beside another's. Wear gloves, balance the tubes opposite each other before every run, keep the lid closed until the rotor has stopped, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for speed and time. Clean and disinfect the chamber after any spill, and dispose of blood waste and sharps as clinical waste.
