The Charmant Pen PMU Device is a lightweight, pen-style machine for semi-permanent makeup. Unlike a manual microblading tool, a PMU pen uses a small motor to move the needle rapidly in and out, depositing pigment just beneath the skin's surface as the artist guides it. That mechanical action makes it possible to build soft shading, gradients and fine lines as well as individual strokes. Artists vary hand speed, needle choice and the pattern of movement to go from a soft powder effect to a crisp, defined line.

The Charmant Pen is used for eyebrow shading and hairstrokes, lip blush and lip pigmentation, and eyeliner. Its light pen-style body is designed for controlled, accurate application, which matters most along the lip line and the lash line, where a steady hand has to be kept up over a long appointment.

In the treatment room

In a PMU studio the Charmant Pen covers most of the menu from one handpiece: powder and ombré brows, machine hairstrokes, lip blush and lash-line work. Each client needs a consultation, and a patch test where the pigment maker or your protocol calls for one. Use a new sterile needle for every client, cover the pen with a barrier sleeve, wear gloves and dispose of sharps properly. Eyeliner and lip work in particular should be done only by an artist trained for those areas, following the device and pigment manufacturers' instructions.
