About the Dr. Pen A1

The Dr. Pen A1 is a professional microneedling pen. Microneedling uses a cartridge of very fine needles to make many tiny, controlled channels in the surface of the skin, and it is the skin's natural repair response to those channels that makes the technique so widely used in skincare clinics.

The A1 has adjustable needle settings, so the practitioner can set it for the area and the skin being worked on, and an ergonomic pen-style grip that helps keep each pass steady and even. It is used in microneedling treatments for skin texture, the look of enlarged pores and the look of acne scars. It takes the Dr. Pen A6 / A1 Cartridges, sold separately in 1P, 12P, 36P and Nano options.

In the treatment room

The A1 fits a skin clinic or aesthetic practice that offers microneedling within a wider menu, alongside peels, facials and skin analysis. Before a first session the practitioner should assess the skin, check for active acne, infection, sunburn and medication that affects healing, and explain what the treatment involves. Use a new sealed cartridge for each client, work on cleansed skin, disinfect the pen body between appointments and dispose of cartridges as sharps. Needle settings should follow the manufacturer's guidance and the practitioner's training.
