About the Dr. Pen M8

The Dr. Pen M8 is a cordless microneedling pen with six speed settings reaching up to 15,000 RPM and a needle depth that adjusts from 0 to 2.5 mm. Its fine needle gauges have an arc edge, designed to glide smoothly over uneven skin, and a rechargeable battery gives up to four hours of cordless use.

Those published figures are what set the M8 apart. Speed decides how rapidly the needles enter the skin as the pen moves; depth decides how far they go. With both on clear, numbered settings, an operator can choose a different setting for each zone of the face and repeat exactly the same settings at the next appointment. The treatment itself is standard microneedling: fine needles create tiny, controlled channels that prompt the skin's natural repair response, and it is used for skin texture and the look of enlarged pores.

In the treatment room

Because depth and speed are numbered, the M8 makes it easy to write settings into a client's record and keep a course of treatment consistent. Plan each zone after a skin assessment, cleanse and prepare the skin, and fit a new sterile cartridge made for the M8 for every client; cartridges are single-use and go into a sharps container afterwards. Charge the pen before each clinic day so the battery is full when the first client arrives, and follow the manufacturer's instructions on settings and aftercare. Microneedling should only be performed by a trained operator.
